What Else Can I Put in My Bong Besides Water???💦
We all know stoners are notorious for keeping things interesting!
If there’s anything we hate, it’s letting life get boring. While water is a perfectly classic choice to put in your bong, why not let your mind wander and stumble upon something AWESOME? After all, if it weren’t for the creativity of stoners, we wouldn’t have the awesome products we have at Prism Water Pipes! So, let’s talk about some of your choices when it comes to experimenting with different liquids to put in your bong. 😏
Let's just start with HOT vs. COLD water
Ok, lets just start with cold vs. hot water. Whether you are using bougie water or tap water, having cold water is the general preference. It chills the smoke down providing a smooth hit. But what if we told you you'd love using hot water just as much?! "Hot water? THATS WACK", you say. But really, hear out this science because it makes for a super smooth, coughless hit. WATER VISCOSITY: when water is warmer, its more "liquid" and less viscous, meaning there are a higher number of smaller bubbles. This exposes your hot smoke to more water, which will filter your smoke out more. Second, hot water makes your beaker HUMID, like a little steam room for your smoke. This in turn makes the particle sizes of your smoke different. This is known as GAS-PARTICLE PARTITIONING.
Lastly, this one is debatable, but the difference in temperature is supposed to effect the THC content. People argue both ways that cold water makes it crystallize and hot water keeps it in liquid form. We aren't fully sure on this, but I guess the only way to find out is to do some experiments yourself and report back because we would LOVE to know! Now, just make sure your water isn't TOO HOT for you! You want to be like Goldielocks and use the temperature that's "Just Right".
Hot Tea
So we talked about the benefits of putting hot water in your bong as opposed to room temperature or cold water, but have you ever heard of using hot tea?? The benefits are the same in terms of getting smoother hits, but the addition of a citrus flavored tea, such as lemon or orange, can enhance the flavor of your hit by a surprising amount!
Interesting right?!
Sugary Beverages 🍭
While sugary beverages are by no means off limits, it is important to keep in mind the stickiness they will leave in your bong. So you should absolutely clean your piece thoroughly after experimenting with these liquids if you don’t want to buy a new bong! (Good thing you have your easily-cleanable, custom bong from Prism! 🤪 The upside of this is that after your fun experiment, you have a perfectly clean bong to hit for next time!

Gatorade is a perfect example of a sugary drink that can make your bong rips super tasty! The wide variety of flavor choices lends itself to all stoners’ different tastes! Plus its nice to take a sip after if you start coughing after a big ole hit (a sip NOT from your bong, that is)!

Flavored Iced Tea can also add a really interesting taste to your bong rips. Depending on the brand, this offers a less abrasive sugary taste than something like Gatorade.

LaCroix and other flavored sparkling/non sparkling drinks are also a great option! Maybe make your own flavored water with some fruit and let it hang over night to soak up all the flavors? As for sparkling, Mango is one of the most popular flavors, due to its supposed effect of enhancing the weed high. Is this just an urban legend? Who knows? Only one way to find out!
We also want to make an added note that the best base to experiment with sugary drinks is a beaker bong. Trying to clean the stickiness out of the tiny holes in either of the Honeycomb or Percolated Beaker bong setups will be an excruciating process that is not worth your time!
Cranberry Juice
Believe it or not, that COOL OCEAN SPRINGS cranberry juice is said to have the opposite effect from what sugary juices do in your bong. Because of its acidity levels, many advocates claim it actually keeps your bong cleaner for longer! 😲
Alcohol 🍷
This one's for all you crossfade lovers (over 21, of course), although I wouldn’t expect to get too much of a buzz off of alcohol rips. As with all different liquids for your bong, adding alcohol is mostly just for flavor. However, it is important to remember that THC is alcohol-soluble. So, if you choose a drink with a high alcohol content, it will absorb some of the THC that you would usually be ingesting with the smoke you breathe in.

Wine is a the best choice for an alcoholic beverage to put in your bong. In addition to its low alcohol content compared to other liquors, it also offers a very unique taste pairing with most strains of weed. Sounds like a pinky's out fancy bong rip.

Dark Liquor is definitely preferable to clear liquor if you’re just looking for a flavorful experience, but again, any hard liquor will absorb most of the THC from the smoke when it passes through. Sooo maybe only do this if your looking to be entertained, but not the highest.
Food Coloring
Last but not least is food coloring. This is for those who are just looking to have fun, but stick to water. The cool thing is THERE ARE SO MANY COLORS you can change your water to and all you need is 2-3 drops of food coloring! Also, if you have multiple chambers, you can pick a different color for each one!! OOO that's trippy! However, do not, I repeat, DO NOT leave it in there long or you will have a different colored bong in the morning.
Mouthwash 😬
You read that right, mouthwash. Now, it's your preference whether its wintergreen, spearmint, cool mint, etc., but what you would do is just pour some into your water. BAM! Minty refreshing hit coming your way! Some also say it stops them from getting cotton mouth? Why, you say? Maybe it makes your mouth salivate? Whatever it is, you're in for a smooth hit.
